a considerable amount of practical experience. Meanwhile, Rob has developed

pda.casing
* Tyre control unit for fast and accurate measurement of car- and trucktyres,
as used by Michelin. This unit receives and stores data from a measuring instrument
which determines the pressure and profile depth of the tyres. The casing contains
a Hewlett Packard H2200 palmtop, additional electronics for wireless data receiving,
an additional battery and a USB port to easily transfer data to a desktop computer.
The padded rotating arms ensure ergonomic use of the touchscreen in different
working situations. The rugged casing is dust- and waterproof in conformance
with the international IP54 standard for carefree use in heavy outdoor conditions.
soap.dispenser
* Patented dispensing system for high viscous fluids such as industrial handcleansing
gel. The system contains a wallmounted casing, an exchangeable vacuum pump and
a disposable 3 liter cartridge. To easily clean the system and to guarantee
functionality while using solvent-based cleansing gel, the functional part of
the pump can be exchanged within a second. This system also allows a variety
of pumps in the same casing, for example, to realize a smaller dosing or a foamy
substance. The disposable cartridge contains a piston which empties the cartridge
completely, fixing the problem of the former square steel containers which could
only be emptied half by its dispenser. In addition, this system is more environmental
friendly and reduces packaging costs.
social.mobility
* Study for motorized personal transportation, though entirely based on existing
technologies, such as frictionless lift and propulsion created by a magnetic
field. Stability is guaranteed by a drive-by-wire system with gyroscopic sensors.
The result is an extremely efficient and manoeuvrable transportation device.
Main target of this study was to create a compact, light, economic and environment
friendly transportation device where status is provided by its progressive technology
instead of plump mass and exorbitant dimensions, which are in heavy conflict
with the original goals of transportation: freedom and mobility.

speedskiing.helmet
* A skiing helmet for the World Cup Speedskiing, approved by the Fédération
Internationale de Ski (FIS). Speedskiing is the fastest of all snowsports, as
skiers can reach speeds up to 250km/h. This dual shelled helmet has an aerodynamical
carbonsandwich outershell and a kevlar safety innershell. In the event the skier
comes to a fall, the potentially dangerous outershell will de-attach, while
the innershell protects the skier’s head. Since the helmet is responsible
for the airflow over the rest of the skier's body, the shape is extremely important
to minimize the drag, and therefore to maximize the topspeed. To maintain a
fluent airflow, the ideal outline has been determined within windtunnel tests.

* Relax, lean back and don’t worry about wrinkled smokingpapers. This
compact and easy-to-use portable holder for your papers and filters will prevent
them from wrinkling. Ideal for festivals, sports, relaxing or any other activity
which can mess up your papers. They are available in a whole range of colours
and come with a lanyard for wearing it around your neck, or clip it to your
shirt or pants.
To minimize the price per product at mass production, there has been chosen
for plastic injection moulded parts, which also made it possible to give the
case a clear, jewel like look.

bag.dispenser
*
Dispenser
for bags as used in industrial bakeries. This dispenser is provided with a braking
function so a bag can quickly be teared off one handed. To exclude the products
of the competitors in this dispenser, a unique connecting system between the
axle and the dispenser has been created. Originally, the design was made out
of a lasercutted stainless steel frame, some small injection moulded components
and a vacuummoulded plastic casing. Because the productionnumbers easily outnumbered
the estimated series, the original casing was replaced by an injection moulded
part to realize a higher quality part with a further cost optimization.

Creativiteit kan al op zeer jonge leeftijd ontdekt worden dmv bepaald
plastic speelgoed. Ook kan het zich uiten in het overmatig gebruik van papier
en potlood. De logische stap naar een professionelere vorm van ontwerpen was
de opleiding Industrieel Ontwerpen, gevolgd door een flinke dosis praktijkervaring.
Inmiddels heeft Rob zich ontwikkeld tot een allround ontwerper met heldere en
realistische ideeën, en weet deze uit te werken tot verrassende en produceerbare
eindresultaten. Dit met een integratie van design en techniek, waarbij de vormgeving
niet als verpakking gebruikt wordt, maar een onderdeel is van het geheel. Rob
werkt deels onder contract en deels freelance, Rob is te huur voor diverse projecten.

Een ergonomisch verantwoorde windsurf trapeze. De functie hiervan is om de armen
te ontlasten door het volledige lichaamsgewicht direct aan de giek te hangen,
zodat men veel effectiever kan windsurfen. De uitwisselbare flexibele backsupports
(carbon- of glassfiber) ondersteunen de ruggengraat van de surfer en werken
comfortverhogend door de trekkracht over een zo groot mogelijke oppervlakte
te verdelen. Om de levensduur te verlengen is de trapeze uitgevoerd met een
RVS spreader bar. Bovendien zijn alle slijtagegevoelige onderdelen eenvoudig,
zonder te hoeven stikken, te verwisselen.

Ergonomical wavesailing windsurfing harness. The function of this harness is
to relieve the arms by transferring the complete body weight directly to the
boom in turn allowing for more effective windsurfing. The exchangeable flexible
backsupport (carbon- or glassfiber) keeps the sailor's back in the right position,
supports the backbone and distributes the load over an as large as possible
surface.
To extend the life span, the harness is equipped with a stainless steel spreader
bar. In addition, all wear-sensitive components can be exchanged easily, without
stitching.

Windtunneltest van een speedskihelm. Speedskiën is de snelste vorm van
wintersport, waarbij de skiërs snelheden tot 250 km/h kunnen halen. Door
gebruik van een windtunneltest is de ideale aërodynamische vorm van deze
helm bepaald. De vorm van de helm begeleidt de luchtstroom over het lichaam
van skiër, en is hierdoor dus grotendeels verantwoordelijk voor de totale
luchtweerstand en de mogelijk te behalen snelheid. Om de luchtstroom zo min
mogelijk te verstoren is ook de ideale outline bij deze test bepaald, waarbij
de helm zo nauw mogelijk aansluit op het lichaam van de skiër.

Windtunnel testing of a speedskiing helmet. Speedskiing is the fastest of all
snowsports, as skiers can reach speeds up to 250km/h. This windtunnel test helped
to realize the ideal aerodynamical shape of the helmet. Since the helmet is
responsible for the airflow over the rest of the skier's body, the shape is
extremely important to keep the total drag as low as possible, and therefore
the topspeed as high as possible. To maintain a fluent airflow, the ideal outline
has also been determined within this test.

display
Vin display voor in windsurfshops met plaats 11 windsurfvinnen. Door middel
van een gleuvenpatroon kunnen alle gangbare vinbox bases stevig op dezelfde
display gemonteerd worden, zodat men de twist en flex van elke vin kan bepalen.
Om tot een robuuste display met een scherpe kostprijs te komen zijn de displays
vervaardigd uit 2 lasergesneden aluminium bladen. Een kleinere versie van deze
display biedt plaats aan 7 vinnen.

Fin display for use in windsurfshops, which offers place for up to 11 windsurfing
fins. A pattern of holes and grooves allows the shopkeeper to choose among the
five main finbox systems for every position. It also makes a very solid connection,
so one can feel the twist and flex of each fin. To realize a solid display with
a sharp price, the display is made out of two laser cutted aluminium blades.
A smaller version of this display offers space to seven fins.

Een skihelm voor de World Cup Speedskiing, goedgekeurd door de Fédération
Internationale de Ski (FIS). De helm bestaat uit een aërodynamisch gevormde
carbonsandwich buitenschaal, een kevlar binnenschaal en een polycarbonaat vizier.
Bij een eventuele val koppelt de (potentieel gevaarlijke) buitenschaal los van
de beschermende binnenschaal door middel van polyamide breekbouten. De maximale
afmetingen van de helm zijn door de FIS reglementair vastgelegd, de helm moet
in een bol met een diameter van 400mm passen. Dankzij 3D CAD kon er optimaal
gebruik gemaakt worden van de beschikbare ruimte.

with a diameter of 400mm. Thanks to 3D CAD this limited space could be used
to maximum efficiency.

Een kunststof houder voor het opbergen van lange vloeitjes en de bijbehorende
tips. Deze compacte houder met bevestigingsclip en keycord voorkomt het verkreukelen
van de papieren vloeitjes en tips. De opdrachtgever ‘Easy's does it’
wil met een serie producten waaronder deze vloeihouder wereldwijd het image
van cannabis verbeteren, het medicinale gebruik stimuleren en een eerlijke discussie
op gang brengen. Vanwege de grote productie aantallen is voor dit product gekozen
voor kunststof spuitgietdelen.

Een Tyre Control Unit voor snelle en nauwkeurige slijtagemetingen aan banden
bij grote bedrijfswagenparken. Deze unit ontvangt draadloos data van het bijbehorende
meetinstrument, die de profieldiepte en de bandenspanning elektronisch meet.
De behuizing bevat een PDA (HP H2200), extra elektronica voor draadloze data
transmissie, een extra accu en een USB poort om data uit te kunnen lezen naar
een desktop computer. Voor probleemloos gebruik in de buitenlucht is de behuizing
is stof- en waterdicht volgens de internationale IP54 norm. De roterende armen
zorgen voor een optimale afleesbaarheid en bediening van het touch screen bij
de verschillende gebruikssituaties.

Studie naar een toekomstige mobiliteit, maar volledig gebruikmakend van reeds
bestaande technieken, zoals het creëren van wrijvingsloze voortstuwing
en lift d.m.v. een magnetisch veld. Stabiliteit wordt gewaarborgd door een drive-by-wire
systeem met gyroscopische sensoren. Het resultaat is een extreem efficiënt
en wendbaar vervoersmiddel. Hoofddoel van de studie was om een compact, licht,
zuinig en milieuvriendelijk vervoersmiddel te ontwerpen die status ontleent
aan zijn vooruitstrevendheid in plaats van louter afmetingen, massa en motorinhoud.
Dit concept was een inzending voor de Peugeot Design Contest 2004.

Gepatenteerd dispenser systeem voor hoog visceuze vloeistoffen zoals industriële
handreinigings gel. Het systeem bestaat uit een vaste kunststof wandhouder,
een losneembaar pompsysteem, en de disposable cartridges. Om het systeem eenvoudig
te kunnen reinigen, en om de functionaliteit te garanderen bij het veelvuldig
gebruik van oplosmiddel houdende reinigingsmiddelen, is het functionele gedeelte
van de pomp eenvoudig uit te wisselen. Om het milieu te sparen bevatten de diposable
cartridges een op onderdruk werkende zuiger waardoor de verpakking voor de volle
100% leeg kan worden gehaald.
